Count \'Em Games Begin

Roll Out: The Tulsa Oilers begin play in their 18th Central Hockey League season on Friday when they visit the Mississippi RiverKings at 7:05 p.m. These are two of the original franchises when the CHL reformed in 1992. The game can be heard via the internet at www.tulsaoilers.com.

New Boss: Bruce Ramsay is in his first year as the Oilers head coach. He is entering his sixth season as a professional head coach, most recently taking the Muskegon Lumberjacks to the Turner Cup final of the International Hockey League. Ramsay coached teams have never missed the playoffs.

Ex Recap: The Oilers played two preseason games at Odessa and dropped a 3-2 game on Thursday, and 2-1 game on Saturday.

Teams Align: The CHL has done away with its four division format, and the 15 teams playing this season will compete in a North and South Conference. The Oilers compete in the North, along with Bossier-Shreveport, Colorado, Mississippi, Missouri, Rapid City, and Wichita. The top five teams in each conference will qualify for the Ray Miron President Cup playoffs.

Happy Hour: There is a new time and new venue for the Oilers Hockey Happy Hour which starts tonight (Monday) with head coach Bruce Ramsay. The weekly gathering takes place at Indigo Joe's Sports Pub and Restaurant. The family friendly, non smoking full service restaurant located at 104th and Memorial, will host Ramsay and an Oiler player every Monday throughout the season from 6:30-7:30 p.m. For tonight's show, the entire Oiler team will be on hand.

Home Opener: After another road game (Oct. 23 at Wichita) the Oilers will have their home opener on Saturday October 24th against Wichita at 7:35 p.m.
