
Cougars Take 1-0 Lead in Western Division Finals

Snappers starting pitcher Zach Ward was perfect through four innings. In the fifth Ward walked the leadoff batter and then threw an errant pickoff throw, allowing the runner to move to third. Ward walked the next batter of the inning. After two ground ball outs, Isaac Omura singled up the middle just under Ward's glove, giving Kane County a 2-0 lead. The Cougars broke the game open with six runs in the seventh inning. Armando Gabino gave up four runs and did not record an out in relief of Ward. Danny Hernandez was tagged for two runs as well in the seventh. Edward Ovalle doubled home Allan de San Miguel, putting Beloit on the scoreboard. Joe Benson scored in the inning on an RBI ground out by Mark Robinson, cutting the Cougars lead to 8-2. Beloit scored a run in the ninth inning, as they fell by a score of 8-3. With the win Kane County takes a 1-0 series lead.
