GENEVA, Ill. - The Kane County Cougars collected 13 hits and belted three home runs to erase an early three-run deficit to defeat the Winnipeg Goldeyes 6-4 on Sunday afternoon. With the win, the Cougars (17-17) clinched a second straight series victory.

In the top of the first, the Goldeyes (13-20) jumped out to an early lead against Cougars' starter Westin Muir. Dayson Croes and Andy Armstrong started off the ballgame with back-to-back singles. Following a Max Murphy strikeout, Jacob Bockelie belted a three-run homer to right field, giving the Goldeyes an early 3-0 edge.

The Cougars responded in the bottom of the second against Winnipeg starter RJ Martinez. TJ Bennett led off the inning with a walk before Jimmy Kerrigan hit into a fielder's choice. Two batters later, JD Osborne smoked a double to score Kerrigan and make it a 3-1 ballgame. However, Winnipeg added onto the lead in the fourth as Tra Holmes walked and came in to score on a wild pitch to push the lead to 4-1.

In the bottom of the fourth, the Cougars cut into the Winnipeg lead. Kerrigan led off the inning with a solo homer over the left field wall to make it 4-2. Just two batters later, Osborne crushed another solo shot over the center field wall to pull Kane County within a run. One inning later, Osborne tied up the ballgame with an RBI single through the left side to make it 4-4 through five innings.

The score remained tied until the bottom of the seventh. Facing Winnipeg reliever Chas Cywin (1-1), Bennett led off the inning with a double to center field. Two batters later, Jonah Davis blasted a majestic home run over the batter's eye in center field to put the Cougars ahead 6-4.

Following the home run by Davis, Daniel Bies (1-1) pitched a scoreless eighth inning. To close out the ballgame, Logan Nissen earned the save by pitching a scoreless ninth with one strikeout. In relief of Westin Muir, CJ Carter pitched a scoreless sixth inning before giving way to Bies. The Cougar bullpen held Winnipeg off the board for the final five innings.

Following an off day on Monday, the Cougars begin a three-game series with the Chicago Dogs at Northwestern Medicine Field.
