Kane County Cougars News Release

GENEVA, Ill. - On a calm yet cloudy Friday night, it was the Milwaukee Milkmen that pulled away late over the Kane County Cougars.

The game started off hot as the Milkmen were able to score a run in the top of the first plating center fielder Corelle Prime off of a single by left fielder Will Kengor.

Yet, it was the bottom of the inning that held more runs, as right fielder Ernie De La Trinidad had a leadoff double to start the frame.

"Yeah, you know, it's always good to get your leadoff guy to get on and usually kind of get going" De La Trinidad said, "You know, yesterday it was a little rough but you know, always the next day and get on and help the team."

That double led to three runs being plated by the Cougars as both left fielder Cornelius Randolph and Jimmy Kerrigan crossed home plate after De La Trinidad to make the score three to one after the first inning.

From there on out it was all Milkmen, as their entire team got in on the hitting action as they totaled 17 hits and scored nine runs in the game.

Despite the high hit amount for the Milkmen, the Cougars had big help from Randolph as he had three hits, one run, and two stolen bases on the night.

"Honestly, trying to be aggressive on base paths and get good pitches to hit," Randolph said of his performance at the plate.

Unfortunately, the Milkmen's high hit and run count pushed them to a nine to four victory over Kane County.

Through the loss, shortstop Galli Cribbs Jr. was able to look towards tomorrow and see what the Cougars could do to get back in the win column.

"Show up and be ready. It's a day game and long series with these guys. This will be our seventh game against them in a row. So it's just gonna be a gut check and going out and just grinding that game out tomorrow," Cribbs said.

That game will be the 4th of this series, and Kane County looks to even it out at two a piece at 1pm tomorrow afternoon at Northwestern Medicine Field.
