El Paso Diablos News Release
El Paso, TX- Late inning runs due to bad relief pitching leads to a Diablos loss in the first of a three game series against the Gary SouthShore RailCats.
The first inning looked like it would be the only inning with an offensive attack, the RailCats struck for two runs in the top of the first inning, not to be outdone the Diablos tacked on a run of their own thanks to a one run home run from right fielder Brian Joynt, which ended up being only one of the two runs scored by the Diablos in the game.
The next four innings proved to be opposite both teams displayed great pitching, Diablos starting pitcher Ryan Bean was excellent going 5.0 innings, only giving up one earned run, on three hits, with three strikeouts, today' start was Bean's best showing of the young season.
As Bean left the game, so did the Diablos pitching. After five great innings of pitching and defense, the Diablos gave up four runs in the next two innings to go down 6-1, the Diablos kept fighting as usual scoring one run in the eighth inning to make it a 6-2 game thanks to Jonathan Cisneros RBI double, than an error from the RailCats in the 9th inning to cut the lead to three, but the runs stopped there as the Diablos eventually fell 6-3.
The Diablos now fall to 4-9, with two more games against the Gary SouthShore RailCats in a three game series. The Diablos play tomorrow night, 7:05 at Cohen Stadium.
