Railcats Sign INF Ryan Miller

GARY, IN - The RailCats signed former Wheaton College infielder Ryan Miller and reinstated left-handed pitcher Ari Ronick from the disabled list on Friday. In a corresponding move, the team placed infielder Danny Pulfer and pitcher Estevan Uriegas on the disabled list.

Miller hit .383 in his senior year with the Thunder with one home run, 18 RBI, 13 doubles, three triples and 16 stolen bases on his way to being named First-Team All-CCIW. For his career, Miller finished at the top of the career ranks in at bats (621), runs scored (174), assists (453), and triples (11). Ryan also ranks second in hits (225), doubles (46), and stolen bases (50). His .362 batting average is fourth best in Wheaton College history. Ryan also had a brief stint with the Copper State Prospecters of the Freedom Baseball League, where he had one hit in six at-bats.

Lefty Ari Ronick was also activated in time for his return to the rotation tonight against the El Paso Diablos. Ronick, was placed on the disabled list on May 22nd with tightness in his back and missed one start. He is 1-0 with a 4.09 ERA in two starts for the RailCats this season.

The team also placed infielder Danny Pulfer and left-handed pitcher Estevan Uriegas on the disabled list. Pulfer was placed on the disabled list retroactive to May 28th with concussion like symptoms. Danny was scratched from the lineup before Wednesday night's 1-0 victory over Sioux City and is hitting .227 (5-22) with one double, two RBI and nine walks in eight games this season.

Uriegas was placed on the disabled list retroactive to May 25th with left elbow soreness. Estevan is 0-1 with a 0.00 ERA in five appearences for the RailCats this season. In three innings, Uriegas has allowed just two hits and struck out six. He last appeared on May 24th, recording a scoreless inning against Kansas City.
