Inland Empire 66ers News Release

Manaurys Correa threw his fourth consecutive quality start but was still saddled with a loss as the 66ers (42-55 [11-16]) failed to give him the run support needed to beat Stockton (37-60, [9-18]), falling 5-2 Wednesday night. C.J. Cron picked up his league best 79th RBI in the loss.

Inland Empire seemed off to a good offensive start when C.J. Cron smashed a ball of the right-center field wall for an RBI double in the 1st. Cron has the most RBI in all of High A, including the Florida State and Carolina leagues. But the 66ers had just one more hit the rest of the night, an RBI double from Drew Heid in the 3rd. Of the next 22 batters, 21 were retired by the Stockton pitchers with just a Ports error breaking up seven innings of perfection.

Meanwhile the Ports were able to muster the necessary offense to support their starter Sean Murphy who also had a quality effort. Chad Oberacker had a two run home run in the 1st to put the Ports up initially. Then in the 4thMax Stassi untied the game with a solo home run and B.A. Vollmuth provided some late inning insurance with a two out two run double.

The 66ers will try to salvage a game from the series in Stockton on Thursday. First pitch is set for 7:05 pm. The game can be heard on the home of 66ers baseball KCAA 1050 AM beginning with the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians Pre-Game show at 6:55.
