Corpus Christi's Ryan Bennett and Arizona's Kyle McNulty Win Weekly Awards

(Tempe, Arizona) - The Central Hockey League announced today that the recipients for the Oakley Central Hockey League Player and Goaltender of the Week for the period ending January 10, 2010 are forward Ryan Bennett of the Corpus Christi IceRays and goaltender Kyle McNulty of the Arizona Sundogs.

Bennett led the Rays in a huge 2-0 week that saw his team beat the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees 6-1 on January 8 and shutout the Laredo Bucks 3-0 on January 9. The Glens Falls, New York native had two goals and four assists with a +4 plus/minus rating in those two games. The 6-1, 205-pound forward has been on fire lately scoring points in seven of his last eight games totaling 13 points (3-10=13) over that stretch. His big night came in the win over the Bees where he had the game winning goal and three assists. Bennett and the IceRays are 6-2-1 in their last nine games.

McNulty has been the workhorse for the Sundogs strong play recently leading his team to three wins last week. It started with his first shutout of the season on January 6 versus Amarillo and then continued with back-to-back wins in Missouri versus the Mavericks on January 8/9. On the week, the Wakefield, Rhode Island native stopped 82 of 88 shots (.932 save percentage).

In recognition of their achievements both Bennett and McNulty will receive a special gift from Oakley.
