Corpus Christi IceRays News Release

Corpus Christi IceRays' General Manager Pat Dunn announced today that the team has acquired 18-year old defenseman Colton Saucerman. The Colorado Springs, CO native is expected in uniform for tonight's game against Wichita Falls and will wear #21. In a separate move, the IceRays released defenseman Shane Gleason.

"Shane is a fine young man who was a great teammate here in Corpus Christi," said Dunn. "We wish him all the best in his future endeavors and we know that he'll be successful both on and off the ice."

The 5'9, 186 pound Saucerman spent the 2009-10 season in the United States Hockey League (USHL) with the Des Moines Buccaneers tallying two goals and four assists for six points in 55 games played. This season, Saucerman played eight games for the Dubuque Fighting Saints (USHL) with one assist and he was +3 before being released.

He becomes the first player in Corpus Christi IceRays (NAHL) history who will attend a Division-I school after committing to the University of Massachusetts-Lowell (NCAA, Hockey East) in July of 2009. He is slated to play for the Riverhawks in 2011-12.

"We're very excited to bring Sauce here to Corpus Christi," said head coach Brent Hughes. "He's a quick defenseman who moves the puck well and will be a great addition to our corps."

Corpus Christi hosts Wichita Falls tonight at the American Bank Center at 7:05 PM. Fans can listen to the game on the home of the IceRays, 1440 KEYS, online at www.1440keys.com beginning with the pre-game show at 6:50 PM. Voice of the IceRays, Ryan Holt will have all the action.
