MOBILE, Ala. - On Monday, BayBears left-hander Patrick Corbin was added to the South Division All-Star roster while also claiming his second consecutive Southern League Pitcher of the Week award.

Corbin is 6-2 for the BayBears so far this season and is the team leader victories while also pacing the squad with 66 strikeouts, which is third-most in the Southern League.

He fired off 10 strikeouts in his last start against the Birmingham Barons on June 9 which matched his season and career-highs. He also punched out 10 hitters against the Carolina Mudcats on May 14 at Hank Aaron Stadium.

Corbin also broke a nine-year old BayBears record in his last start against the Barons as he reached 27.1 consecutive scoreless innings, a streak that spanned over four starts, all of which in Corbin was the winning pitcher. J.J. Trujillo had the previous BayBears' mark when he worked 24 straight scoreless innings as a reliever in 2002.

Corbin, a New York native, was drafted by the Los Angeles of Angels of Anaheim in 2009 as a second-round draft choice. He was traded to the D-backs last July in the deal that sent Dan Haren to the Halos. He joins Wes Roemer as the only BayBears pitchers to be headed to the Southern League All-Star Game on Tuesday, June 21 at Pringles Park in Jackson, Tenn.

The BayBears play the finale of a crucial five-game set tonight against the Birmingham Barons at Regions Park. Wade Miley gets the start for the BayBears as he tries to pull the BayBears within a half-game of first place. The BayBears return home to Hank Aaron Stadium on Wednesday afternoon to take on the Montgomery Biscuits in the final five-game series of the first half.
