Club Deportivo Chivas USA News Release

CARSON, Calif. (Thursday, Aug. 21, 2008) - The championship match of the Third Annual ‘Chivas Regal Heroes Cup,' a soccer tournament between law enforcement and fire department teams representing areas from Los Angeles to New York, will be played Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the Main Stadium of The Home Depot Center. The four-day tournament, hosted by Chivas USA and sponsored by Chivas Regal, kicked off on Wednesday and will finish on Saturday, and the winning team will be recognized at halftime of Saturday night's match between Chivas USA and the San Jose Earthquakes, which begins at 7:30 p.m. PT at The Home Depot Center.

"We're honored to help present, alongside Chivas Regal, such a wonderful event," said Chivas USA President and CEO Shawn Hunter. "The players in this tournament represent some of the finest public servants that this country has to offer, and we hope the Chivas Regal Heroes Cup will build strong relationships between our team, our fans, and those that serve and protect our communities."

Now in its third year, the ‘Chivas Regal Heroes Cup' includes police and fire departments from around Los Angeles and the rest of California, as well as a team from the New York Police Department. This is the second year in which Chivas Regal is sponsoring the event, which will be played under FIFA rules, except that the games will run for 70 minutes and teams will be allowed unlimited substitutions. The referees for the tournament are being supplied by AYSO Area 1P on a volunteer basis. SoCal United, a team made up of various law enforcement and fire departments from the San Gabriel Valley, won both the first and second editions of the tournament.

The teams participating in the tournament represent communities throughout California, as well as the highly touted New York City Police Department team. Below is a full list of the teams participating in this year's ‘Chivas Regal Heroes Cup.'
