Connecticut Sun Tops Dallas Wings 83-56

The Connecticut Sun (22-6) defeated the Dallas Wings (12-17), 83-56 on Tuesday night in Arlington, TX. The Sun's 27-point victory is the 16th time the team has won by 10 or more points this season. Additionally, the Sun have held opponents to 70 points or less in 14 contests.

Connecticut extended its winning streak to 10 which is the longest win streak in the league this season. The Phoenix Mercury sits the next closest with nine. The Sun's longest win streak is 12 which dates back to the 2006 season.

Curt Miller won his 111th game as a head coach in the WNBA. Miller is now tied with Marynell Meadors (111) for 15th on the WNBA All-Time Coaches Wins List.

Connecticut kept Dallas in single digits until the last minute of the first quarter. Marina Mabrey scored the last five points for the Wings but ultimately trailed 30-13. This is the second 30-point quarter by the Sun this season. The first was in the third quarter against the Chicago Sky on June 19.

The Sun extended their lead to 23 at the half (48-25) which is the team's second largest lead at the break this season.

During the third quarter the Sun increased the lead to 30. Connecticut held the lead the entire game and went up by as many as 33 points early in the fourth.

reserves played the entire fourth quarter. Dallas outscored the Sun by one point (17-16) in the last ten minutes of play and were able to cut their deficit to 27.

Five Sun players scored in double figures for the fifth time this year.

Jasmine Thomas (970) tallied six assists and surpassed Lindsay Whalen (964) on the Connecticut Sun All-Time Assists List. Thomas added three, three rebounds and a blocked shot.

Jonquel Jones also moved up in the Sun record books, taking sole possession of second on the all-time blocks list. Jones (225) recorded three blocks and sits behind Taj McWilliams-Franklin (267) at first. Jones, who has played in 158 games, sits only 45 blocks behind McWilliams-Franklin who played in 243 games. Jones finished the contest with 11 points, seven rebounds and five assists.

Brionna Jones led the team in scoring for the sixth time this season and recorded her third straight double-double. Jones recorded 18 points and 10 rebounds and shot 50 percent from the field. This is the seventh double-double of her career.

Briann January shot 4-of-5 from the field and 3-of-4 from behind the arc for a total of 13 points.

DeWanna Bonner added 11 points, four rebounds and four assists.

The entire Connecticut bench saw action in tonight's game.

Natisha Hiedeman came off the bench and scored 13 points. Eight of which she scored in the first quarter on a three-point basket and two and ones.

Beatrice Mompremier scored six points and had four rebounds, Kaila Charles and Stephanie Jones had four points, respectively.

Mabrey led the Wing with 16 points off the bench. Awak Kuier and Allisha Gray both added 10 and Kuier recorded a team high eight rebounds.

Arike Ogunbowale was held to just eight points (2-17). Before tonight, she held the longest active WNBA double-digit scoring streak at 65.

Dallas shot 26.6 percent (17-64) from the field which is a new low for Sun opponents this season.
