Connecticut Sun and Jordan's Furniture Present "Basketball for Free” Clinics

Uncasville, CT - The Connecticut Sun have announced a partnership with Jordan's Furniture to bring "Basketball for Free" clinics to the state of Connecticut.

As part of the Connecticut Sun's Change Can't Wait campaign, a mission to create positive change for all marginalized groups with a focus on Black and Brown communities within Connecticut and New England, and building off of Jordan's work providing adoption support and permanent homes for children in foster care, the Connecticut Sun and Jordan's Furniture are launching a series of free basketball clinics for girls throughout the year. Both organizations want to inspire girls around Connecticut to use their talent and their voices to achieve their goals.

These clinics-led by Director of Franchise Development and 4-time NCAA and WNBA champion, Morgan Tuck, and Director of Player Development and former NBA player, Awvee Storey-will bring resources and Connecticut Sun talent to cities around New England that face equity and access challenges.

As a partner of the Connecticut Sun, Jordan's felt it was important to be seen not only at the arena, but more importantly, in the community. Jordan's philanthropy has been a large part of their branding and business model since the start of the company, over 100 years ago, and that effort has continued today with many community partnerships like this one.

"We are investing in partnerships that help get the Connecticut Sun platform of empowerment out into our communities," said Tuck. "Beyond gameday, we have a commitment to showing up in the communities that need us most. Jordan's has helped ensure we make a difference all year long."

The first clinic is slated for Saturday, October 9 from 4-5:30 P.M. at the CT Sports Center. The clinic is being offered to 60 girls, ages 8-14. All participating girls will receive a basketball thanks to Jordan's Furniture's generous support.
