HIDALGO, TX: July 20, 2005 - The Rio Grande Valley Dorados will see a familiar face join their squad, as lineman Spencer Conley was assigned to the Dorados roster by the arenafootball2.

Conley played last season with the Dorados and opted this season to join the division-rival Tulsa Talons. The 6'3" 290-pound lineman appeared in 9 games this season with Tulsa before being placed on reassignment. He registered six solo and three assisted tackles for a total of 7.5 tackles, including 1.5 sacks and two forced fumbles.

Last season as a member of the Dorados, Conley was named as an All-af2 First Team member. He also received two team awards, as he took home the club's "Soul to Service" and the "Lineman of the Year" honor. Conley co-led the af2's National Conference in sacks with 8.5 to become the af2 all-time active career leader with 23. The fourth year af2 pro ranked tied for second in the league with 10.5 tackles for a loss on the year and was tied for third with 4 forced fumbles in the af2. He earned the "Soul to Service" honor for all his efforts in community relations and his dedication to improve younger athletes in the Rio Grande Valley with their football careers. Conley has been residing in the Valley since joining the Dorados last season.

A native of San Antonio, Conley joined the Dorados last season after spending the 2003 season with the af2's Albany Conquest. In Albany, Conley played in 11 games and racked up 16 tackles and a team leading 8 sacks, which tied for sixth in the league. He also led the Conquest in tackles for a loss with 6 to rank tied for 11th in the league. Conley earned ADT Defensive Player of the Week honors by the af2 during the ninth week of the 2003 season. He began his af2 career in 2001 with the Norfolk Nighthawks. Conley grabbed 6.5 sacks in 8 games with Norfolk and set the af2 single-game record for sacks with 4.5, which stood for a season. During the 2002 season, Conley appeared in 2 playoff games with the Cape Fear Wildcats. The 32 year-old Conley attended Trinity Valley Community College in Athens, Texas, but left early to take his game to the pro level. He turned pro in the Canadian Football League (CFL), but did not have to report to Canada, as he signed with the San Antonio Texans in 1998, which was their only season in the CFL. Conley also appeared in one game in the Arena Football League during the 1994 season with the Fort Worth Cavalry. Over his af2 career, Conley has 59.5 tackles, 24.5 sacks, 10 forced fumbles and 2 forced safeties in 43 games.
