
Condors to help the community in annual Day of Caring

This Week in Condorstown:
Saturday, Sept. 6: Members of the Condors front office staff will participate in the annual Day of Caring, hosted by the United Way of Kern County. The Day of Caring includes over a thousand volunteers giving their time and energy to numerous different service projects throughout Bakersfield. The Condors will lend their assistance to Jr. Achievement, located at 1820 Chester Ave. To get involved with the "Day of Caring" event, contact United Way at 834-1382.
Saturday, Sept. 6: Condors mascot Colonel Claw'd will attend the Pathways Family Fun Event located at Peacock Park (Manor Street and Denise Ave) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Colonel will join the Bakersfield Police Department, Hall Ambulance and the Kern County Sheriffs, along with a petting zoo, train ride, multiple bounce houses and water slides to give the children in Pathways Foster Care a fun day of activities.
Saturday, Sept. 6: Condors front office staff will have an information table at Village Fest (formerly Brews in the Village) from 6 to 10 p.m. Fans can stop by the Condors table for their chance to win Condors gear and get information about next season. Village Fest is an annual fundraiser for Children's Advocates Resource Endowment (CARE), a local non-profit organization that supports an Endowment Fund for the future of Kern County children and local children's charities. The Condors will be donating 500 tickets to CARE for this event. Village Fest will be held at the Kern County Museum, located at 3801 Chester Ave. Note: you must be at least 21 years of age to attend this event.

Friday, Sept. 12: Members of the Condors front office staff will attend the Bakersfield City School District's Partners in Education Day from 8 to 11 a.m. The Condors will meet with principals and school district administrators to discuss the Condors role in education and introduce the 2008-09 season T.H.I.N.K. (Turn Hockey Into New Knowledge) and Classroom Champions school programs.
Friday, Sept. 12 & Saturday, Sept. 13: The Condors will host Select-A-Seat Days at Rabobank Arena from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. both days. Fans will be treated to free hotdogs, popcorn and soda while touring the arena and checking out available seats. Condors representatives will be on hand to answer any questions and assist season ticket inquirers with securing a season full of entertainment. Fans can bring the kids along to play in the Condors bounce house, shoot the puck in the inflatable slapshot and win Condors gear from the Condors prize wheel. Everyone who purchases a new ticket plan at the event will receive a gift card for $10 in free gas! For further details call 324-PUCK (7825).
Greatest Thing About Bakersfield:
The voting for the second round of Bakersfield Life Magazine's "The Greatest Thing About Bakersfield" ends this Saturday, Sept. 6. After defeating the Beale Library last the month, Condors Hockey is currently pitted up against Merle Haggard. Show everyone that Condors Hockey is the greatest thing about Bakersfield by clicking here and voting for Condors Hockey, as well as your other 31 favorite things in Bakersfield. Results from this round of voting will be released in the Sept. 20 issue of Bakersfield Life Magazine.
