Duluth Huskies News Release

ROCHESTER, Minn - After struggling to close out the series opener, the Duluth Huskies got their revenge against the Rochester Honkers Friday night as they polished off a 5-1 victory.

Duluth (12-14, 31-28) handed the ball to Jake Combs for his fifth start of the season. The Southern Illinois product worked four innings, allowing one run on four hits with three walks and four punchouts.

Rochester (12-14, 27-33) started the scoring in the fourth inning on a Theo Hardy RBI single. Menelik Israel trotted home to score to allow the Honkers to gain the 1-0 advantage.

The Huskies found their first runs in the top of the sixth inning. Cam Frederick had an RBI single to score Eddie Satisky from second base to tie the contest. Three batters later, Jonathan Vastine sent a sacrifice fly into left field to score Frederick to give Duluth its first lead of the night, 2-1.

The visiting Huskies answered again in the seventh. Satisky got an RBI on a sacrifice bunt that scored Devin Hurdle. A couple of errors on the behalf of Rochester led to three runs in the inning for Duluth. Joe Vos recorded an RBI base hit to finish the frame for the Huskies and give them a 5-1 lead.

That score would stick as the Huskies buried the Honkers for their fourth victory against Rochester this season.

Andrew Brockwell (1-0) earned the win with two smooth frames of relief. He tossed two scoreless innings and gathered two strikeouts along the way. Carson Revay (2-2) received the loss after stumbling through the sixth inning.

Duluth got scoreless outings from Isaiah Piscitello, Jeremy Klick and JD McReynolds to prevail in the series-ending game.

The Huskies return home on Saturday to open a two-game set versus the Willmar Stingers. The first pitch is scheduled for 3:05 pm CT.
