
Community Field Renovation to Begin on Friday

Burlington, IA - The official beginning of the "Extreme Makeover" of Community Field will be tomorrow morning at 10am with the razing of the current main concession stand. Members of the media and the general public are invited to attend.
The renovation of Community Field is part of the Great River Gateway Vision Iowa Project. As part of the project, the old concession stand will be replaced by a new building that will house the front office, a board room, the ticket windows, the concession stands, and the souvenir stands. In addition, the concourse will be wider and covered by a new canopy roof, a new press box will be built, the visitor's clubhouse will be expanded, the dugouts will be expanded, the outer drive in the parking lot will be paved, a new electronic marquee will be installed along Mt. Pleasant Street, and the general look of the ballpark will be updated and enhanced.
Initial funding for this project has been received through the Vision Iowa Grant Program, from the City of Burlington, and from local individuals and corporations.
