
Comets vs. Griffins in Conference Finals

The Utica Comets announced today the dates for their matchup with the Grand Rapids Griffins in Western Conference Finals of the American Hockey League's 2015 Calder Cup Playoffs. In their Conference Semifinals, Utica defeated the sixth-seeded Oklahoma City Barons in seven games, while the Grand Rapids Griffins defeated the fourth-seeded Rockford IceHogs in five games.
The top-seeded Comets will play the second-seeded Griffins in a best-of-seven game series. Playing a 2-3-2 format, Utica will host Grand Rapids for Games 1 and 2, opening the series on Sunday, May 24th and Monday, May 25th, with both games starting at 7 p.m. at the Utica Memorial Auditorium. The teams will then travel to Grand Rapids for Games 3, 4, and if necessary Game 5, at Van Andel Arena. If needed, the series will travel back to Utica for Games 6 and 7 at The AUD. All playoffs games can be heard live on 94.9 FM KROCK, the flagship radio station of the Utica Comets.
The two teams have faced each other twice this season, with each team winning once. The Comets won the first game at The AUD 4-2, while the Griffins defeated the Utica in Grand Rapids 5-1.
Tickets to Game 1 and 2 will go on sale tomorrow at 10a.m. at The AUD's Box Office, and at noon on TicketMaster.com. On-sale dates for tickets to Games 6 and 7 and will be announced at a later date.
Season ticket holders who signed up for the 'pay-as-you-play" option can pick up their season tickets at the Comets office during normal business hours starting on Thursday, May 21.

Eight teams in each conference qualify for the Calder Cup playoffs, with the three division winners in each conference seeded first through third by order of regular season points. The next five teams, in order of regular season points, will be seeded fourth through eight. Home ice advantage is given to the higher seeded team in each playoff match-up.
The Conference Semifinals, and the Conference Finals are a best-of-seven series. Teams are reseeded according to the same criteria as the Conference Quarterfinals, with division leaders seeded first, and granted home ice advantage, while remaining teams will be seeded in order of regular season points.
The Calder Cup Finals are also a best-of-seven series, with home ice determined by the higher number of points in the final standings at the end of the Schedule of Championship Games.
