November 2, 2018 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Utica Comets News Release
Laval, Que. - Jonathan Dahlen, Zack MacEwen, and Michael Carcone all scored as the Comets topped the Laval Rocket 3-1 Friday night at Place Bell. Ivan Kulbakov stopped 31 of 32 shots to improve his record to 4-2-0.
Dahlen got the Comets on the board with 4:19 to go in the first period, taking a pass from Guillaume Brisebois and beating Rocket goaltender Charlie Lindgren on the breakaway. Evan McEneny also tallied an assist on the goal.
MacEwen doubled the lead 11 minutes into the second period, burying a one-time pass from Jaime Sifers. Olli Juolevi also picked up an assist. Carcone scored two and a half minutes later to push the lead to 3-0. Tanner Kero had the lone assist.
Brett Kulak ended Ivan Kulbakov's shutout bid six minutes into the third period on the power play when his shot from the point found its way into the net. Kulbakov and the Comets defense, including two huge blocked shots from Carter Bancks, shut down the Rocket's late flurry to secure the win.
The Comets are right back at it tomorrow afternoon for a rematch with the Rocket. Puck drop at Place Bell is at 3 p.m. The game can be heard on 94.9 KROCK and viewed on AHL TV.
