York Revolution News Release

(York, Pa.) - The Bridgeport Bluefish pounded out 16 hits on the way to a 7-2 win over the York Revolution on Saturday night in front of a season-best crowd of 5,205 at PeoplesBank Park. The Revs (31-24) now lead the Freedom Division by two-and-a-half games with 16 to go. Lancaster picked up a game and a half on the Revs by sweeping a doubleheader at Long Island.

D.J. Mitchell (2-1) kept the Revs offense at bay for six innings, allowing one run on six hits while walking one and striking out nine.

The Bluefish (23-32) handed Tony Pena (5-1) his first loss of the season, tagging him for four runs on nine hits in five innings as Bridgeport won its first game at York in six tries this season.

The teams traded runs in the first inning. Luis Hernandez and Endy Chavez led off the game with singles, and Hernandez came home on a Welington Dotel sac fly. The Bluefish loaded the bases with two out, but Pena kept the lid on by striking out Josh Vitters.

The Revs got that run back in their half of the first as Joel Guzman singled, took second on a balk, and came home on Telvin Nash's double.

Bridgeport broke through in the top of the third as Dotel singled and Cuevas doubled. Dotel came home on a wild pitch, then after a walk Jonathan Galvez plated Cuevas with a single. After a flyout and infield fly, Adron Chambers knocked a ground-rule double over the wall in left center to make it 4-1.

York had chances in the fourth, putting men on second and third with two out, but Michael Rockett lined out to right field to end the threat. The Revs got also a runner to third base in the fifth inning and to second base in the sixth inning to no avail.

Cuevas led off the Bluefish seventh with his second double of the game, coming around to score on a Galvez sac fly two batters later for an insurance run.

Isaias Tejeda extended his Revs season-high hitting streak to 16 games with a two-out hustle double in the seventh, and Guzman plated him with a double of his own to make it 5-2.

Bridgeport put the final nails in the coffin in the top of the ninth, as Vitters doubled home a run and Connor David knocked an RBI single to give the game its final margin. The Revs put two on with one out in their half of the ninth before Guzman grounded into a game-ending double play.

Cuevas pounded York all night, going 4-for-5 with two doubles and three runs. Galvez drove in two runs on a 2-for-3 night.

Guzman led the way for the Rev bats, going 2-for-5 with a double, run, and RBI. Tejeda, Andres Perez, and Rockett each had two hits.

Notes: Bridgeport's 16 hits ties the most given up by Revolution pitching this season (May 16 at Lancaster). Perez has hit safely in 21 of his last 25 games, batting .343 (34-99) over that span. Michael Click (1-1, 5.79) gets his first start of the season for the Revs against the Bluefish's Jonathan Albaladejo (4-2, 5.40) in the rubber game on Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. Revs fans can catch the action live on SportsRadio 1350, woyk1350.com, and on the WOYK mobile app beginning at 12:40 p.m. with Darrell Henry and Will DeBoer on the call. Sunday is Superhero Day at PeoplesBank Park, as the Revs will become the Revengers on Father's Day and auction off the special jerseys and caps after the game. Fans will also get to meet their favorite superheroes with a special appearance by the Central PA Avengers. All usual Sunday fair, including pregame autographs, dollar hot dogs presented by Hatfield Quality Meats, and kids run the bases presented by Commonwealth Charter Academy are in toe. Gates open at 12:00 p.m. and tickets are available at YorkRevolution.com, (717) 801-HITS, and in person at the Apple Chevrolet Ticket Office.
