
Comeback Bid Falls Short vs. Tigers

TROY, NY - After being no-hit for the first six innings of their game against Connecticut on Thursday night, the ValleyCats' offense came to life late in the game. but not in time to mount a comeback, falling by a score of 2-1 at The Joe.
Tigers starter Carlos Guzman earned the win with six hitless frames to hold the ValleyCats in check.
After Mark Moclair gave up the ValleyCats' only two runs in the third innning, the ValleyCats' bullpen held the Tigers in check for the remainder of the game.
Austin Dennis picked up the ValleyCats first hit in the seventh inning, while Trey Dawson scored their only run in the eighth.
Dawson came around to score on a fielding error by right fielder Dayton Dugas, when Nate Perry got on with a hit, but was tagged out at third base on the play.
Now with a record of 33-24, the ValleyCats remain atop the Stedler Division standings by 3.5 games over the Lowell Spinners.
Tri-City will now travel to Lowell for a three-game series with the Spinners that will have major playoff implications.
After their three-game weekend series, the ValleyCats will return home for three against the Brooklyn Cyclones beginning on Monday night, August 20.
