Come High Five For Autism Awareness On April 28th

April 24, 2007 - Southern League (SL1)
Knoxville Smokies News Release

SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. - A very special guest will be in attendance for Saturday night's Tennessee Smokies game against the Carolina Mudcats. Will Johnson, a seven-year-old at Claxton Elementary School in Knoxville, will be continuing his effort to set the Guinness World Record for most high fives collected in a single month.

More importantly, he is attempting to generate awareness about autism, a disorder he has suffered from for the last four years.

His efforts this Saturday night at Smokies Park are part of a month-long endeavor to bring attention to a neurological disorder that now affects 1-in-150 children in the United States. With April being National Autism Awareness Month, his hard work has been very timely...and inspirational.

To date, Johnson has collected over 3,925 high fives.

In addition to slapping hands with Smokies fans Saturday night, he will be padding his high five stats with the Smokies players themselves. After throwing out the first pitch before the game, Johnson will give high fives to the Smokies players on the field.

Fans in attendance this Saturday night are invited to stop by Will's section and give him a high five. Details as to where he is sitting will be announced throughout Saturday's game.
