
BayBears ride big second to 6-1 victory

SEVIERVILLE, TN - The BayBears had a five-run second inning Tuesday, beating the Tennessee Smokies 6-1 at Smokies Park. The BayBears have now won two straight games, and could win the series in Tennessee with a win Wednesday morning. Matt Green (3-0) continued his strong pitching, throwing six shutout innings. Green allowed eight hits and struck out two in the win.
The BayBears hit Donny Veal (0-4) for six runs in 3.1 innings of work. Chris Rahl hit an RBI double in the second inning, and added an RBI single in the five-run third. Josh Ford had an RBI single, and Jarred Ball a three-run triple in the rally. Matt Elliott pitched a scoreless ninth inning to seal the win. Tennessee's one run came on a pinch hit home run by Jemel Spearman in the seventh inning.
The BayBears and Smokies conclude their series Wednesday at 10:35 AM. Osbek Castillo (0-0) starts for Mobile against Tennessee's Justin Berg (1-0).
