Columbus Crew SC Hosts Chicago Fire on Saturday

COLUMBUS - Columbus Crew SC (0-0-0, 0 points) hosts the Chicago Fire (0-0-0, 0 points) tomorrow, Saturday, March 4 in Opening Match, sponsored by MAPFRE Insurance. The contest kicks-off at 2:00 p.m. ET and is set to be televised regionally on ABC -6, Spectrum Sports and BCSN2, with Neil Sika, Dwight Burgess and Clay Hall on the call. Coverage on ABC-6 begins at 2:00 p.m. ET. Exclusively on Spectrum Sports and BCSN2, "Crew SC Matchday," the pre-match show, begins at 1:30 p.m. ET, with "Crew SC Post-Match" immediately following the action. Tomorrow's match also airs locally on the radio on CD102.5 FM in English, featuring simulcast audio from the television broadcast. La Mega 103.1 FM has the match airing in Spanish, with Juan Valladares behind the microphone. The Spanish radio call is also set to be streamed in Spanish on the LaMega1 App and via Tunein Radio as WVKO-FM. The club's official website, ColumbusCrewSC.com, is set to stream the English-language radio broadcast online.

The first 10,00 supporters through the gate will receive a MAPFRE Insurance and Columbus Crew SC co-branded key chain. Tomorrow's contest at MAPFRE Stadium is the first match of the 2017 regular season for Crew SC and the first of three meetings between the Black & Gold and Chicago Fire this year. All-time, Columbus is 17-24-17 against the Eastern Conference opponent and came away with one victory and two draws against the club in 2016.

Crew SC and Chicago Fire last met last season on October 13th at Toyota Park in Bridgeview, Illinois. Forward Adam Jahn scored the first goal of the game placing Crew SC in the lead. Jahn later equalized for Crew SC, scoring a goal in the 80th minute, bringing the score to 2-2 and securing a point for the Black & Gold on the road.

During the 2017 preseason, after training in Sao Paulo, Brazil, Crew SC participated in the Carolina Challenge Cup in Charleston, South Carolina. The Black & Gold secured an unbeaten (2-0-1) record in the tournament, defeating MLS expansion side Atlanta United FC and defending MLS Champions Seattle Sounders FC en route to winning the tournament. Designated Player and playmaker Federico Higuain was the top scorer for Crew SC in the tournament, with two goals.

Last week at MAPFRE Stadium, Columbus Crew SC unveiled its new gold kits in a special event that simultaneously announced a major, three-year sponsorship agreement making Acura - the luxury automaker with a substantial manufacturing and R&D presence in Ohio - the Official Columbus Crew SC Jersey Partner and the Official Automotive Partner of Columbus Crew SC. The Black & Gold's 2017 kit portfolio includes the gold kit as the primary kit and the black kit, which was previously worn in 2016, as the secondary kit.
