
Columbus Crew SC Acquires General Allocation Money and International Roster Sport in Trade with the Colorado Rapids

COLUMBUS - Columbus Crew SC today announced that it has acquired $400,000 in 2020 General Allocation Money (GAM) and a 2020 international roster spot via a trade with the Colorado Rapids. In exchange, the Black & Gold traded defender Lalas Abubakar to Colorado.
"We believe that this transaction puts us in a position to build and strengthen our roster for the 2020 MLS season," said Crew SC President and General Manager Tim Bezbatchenko. "We want to thank Lalas for his contributions to Columbus Crew SC during his three seasons with the Club and we wish him the best in the next stage of his career."
Abubakar played for Crew SC from 2017-2019 after being selected by the Club in the First Round of the 2017 MLS SuperDraft. The defender spent the majority of the 2019 season on loan with the Colorado Rapids. In all, Abubakar made 31 regular-season appearances for the Crew, scoring two goals.
