Columbus Crew SC News Release
COLUMBUS - Columbus Crew today announced that it has added Columbus Crew 2 defender Philip Quinton and midfielder Isaac Angking (pronounced: ANG-king) to the First Team on short-term loan agreements. Both Quinton and Angking will be available for tonight's 2022 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Third Round road contest against Detroit City FC (7:30 p.m. ET / ESPN+). Per MLS rules, the short-term agreements allow clubs to sign players on loan from their MLS NEXT Pro affiliate for MLS, U.S. Open Cup, CONCACAF Champions League, Canadian Championship and exhibition matches.
Quinton, 22, was selected by the Crew in the First Round of the 2022 MLS SuperDraft before signing with Crew 2 on March 17. The Columbus-born defender represented the University of Notre Dame from 2018-2021, making 58 appearances. In 2022, Quinton has made four MLS NEXT Pro regular-season appearances (all starts), helping Crew 2 post three consecutive shutouts.
Angking signed with Crew 2 earlier this year on February 18. The 22-year-old midfielder spent three seasons with the New England Revolution from 2018-2021. Angking's previous experience also includes stints with USL Championship sides Charlotte Independence and Hartford Athletic. At the international level, Angking has earned six caps for the Puerto Rico National Team since making his debut in 2021. In 2022, he has made four regular-season appearances (three starts) for Crew 2.
Following the Crew's U.S. Open Cup match against Detroit City FC, the Club returns to MLS regular-season action against Sporting Kansas City at Children's Mercy Park on Saturday, April 23 [8:30 p.m. ET / Bally Sports Ohio, Bally Sports App (Stream) / 97.1 The Fan, 971thefan.com (English); ColumbusCrew.com (Spanish)].
