COLUMBIA, SC - P.J. Conlon, Vinny Siena and Alex Palsha soaked in the 57th annual South Atlantic League All-Star Game at Whitaker Bank Ballpark in Lexington, Kentucky, Tuesday night. The trio and the rest of the Southern Division All-Star team lost a nail-biter, falling to the Northern Division, 2-1.

Conlon earned the starting nod on the hill for his sensational first half of the 2016 season. The left-handed hurler from Placentia, California, struck out one in his lone inning of work. Conlon leads the South Atlantic League in wins (8) and ranks second in ERA (1.84).

Siena was voted the starting second baseman and played in the game's first five innings. The former University of Connecticut star leads the South Atlantic League in on-base percentage (.435).

The Southern Division trailed by one run entering the ninth inning. Palsha received the call from the bullpen and retired the only man he faced. The Fireflies closer got Yeyson Yrizarri to fly out to left field to end a tense, 10-pitch at-bat.

David Thompson, who was selected by the managers and coaches around the league to start for the Southern Division at third base, did not play in the game due to an injury.

Columbia begins the second half of the season at Spirit Communications Park against Augusta (San Francisco Giants) on Thursday night at 7:05 p.m. The Fireflies have won seven of their last 11 games.

You can watch the action on MiLB.TV or listen in on WGCV 620 AM, 105.1 and 96.3 FM, ColumbiaFireflies.com and the TuneIn Radio app starting at 7:00 p.m.
