Lexington County Blowfish News Release

COLUMBIA, SC- The Columbia Blowfish (8-15) find themselves back in the losers bracket after falling to the Forest City Owls (12-9) in a double header sweep.

The first game of the double header started in the top of the fourth inning with the continuation of a game between the two teams on June 12. This resulted in Columbia being the visiting team for the opening game of the double header.

Josh Reagan (South Carolina) had a strong outing in game one as he pitched 5 innings, allowing only 2 earned runs to come across.

Forest City started the scoring early as the lead off man in the 4th inning Devin Wenzel (Cincinnati) hit a single up the middle and then later in the inning stole second. Wenzel would come around to score when Derek Hannans singled to left center.

In the 5th inning leadoff man Zach Cerebo hit a solo shot to left field that would give the Owls the decisive edge to win game one of the double header.

The Blowfish started a short fueled come back as Michael Bell led off the 6th inning with a single to left and he would come around to score on an RBI single from Chase Shelton, but this would be all the offense the Blowfish could come up with in game one.

In game two Blowfish pitcher Ben Schniederjans (Georgia Tech) pitched 7 strong innings, allowing only 1 earned run to come across.

Owls starting pitcher Ben Zuber threw 7 scoreless innings while allowing just 5 hits.

The lone run came across in the fourth inning when Hunter Bryant singled to left with one out in the inning, he would advance to second on a pass ball, and then came around to score on the games only run a Joey Hawkins single to center.

The Blowfish Eric Barber went 2 for 3 in at the plate with a single in the 4th and a double to lead off the 7th before he was stranded at third to end the game.

The Blowfish left 10 total base runners between the two games.

The Blowfish next game will be on June 19 against the HP Thomasville Hitoms, with first pitch set for 7:05 P.M.
