FOREST CITY - The Owls pitchers continued to dominate the Columbia Blowfish in game two of the doubleheader, scheduled to go just seven innings.

Starter Tyler Zuber allowed just five hits in a 1-0 complete game shutout to defeat the Blowfish for their second straight win on Thursday night.

The Owls didn't get a hit with a runner in scoring position all game, but Devin Wenzel delivered a RBI fielder's choice in the top of the fourth inning scoring Hunter Bryant for the only run of the contest.

The Blowfish threatened in the final frame with a leadoff double, but two groundouts and a fly out ended the game.

Pitchers Colin Hightower, Orlando Razo and Max Cordy arrived last night and traveled with the team today.

The Owls will return to Forest City tonight to take on the Asheboro Copperheads tomorrow night at 7:30.

The Owls will continue the 2014 season at home Friday night they take on Asheboro at 7:30. Fans can purchase season tickets, ½ season plans and 5-game Fireworks plans by calling the Owls office at 828-245-0000. Key dates for the 2014 season include: Fireworks Games on Saturday July 5th and Saturday August 2nd. Single game tickets are on sale now. The Owls will also take on the Chinese Taipei National team on July 7th.

The Coastal Plain League is the nation's hottest summer collegiate baseball league. Celebrating its 18th season in 2014, the CPL features 14 teams playing in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. The CPL gives college players the chance to refine their skills with the use of wooden bats. Players are housed with local host families for the summer and past experiences have been very positive for both players and hosts. The CPL has had over 1,100 alumni drafted and 65 of those - including 2011 AL MVP and Cy Young winner Justin Verlander - make their Major League debut; while another notable alum - Russell Wilson - won Super Bowl XLVIII.
