Columbia Blowfish Fall in 12 to Fayetteville

COLUMBIA, SC - The Columbia Blowfish (16-22) fall 3-2 in 12 innings to the Fayetteville Swampdogs (16-20) at Historical Capitol City Stadium.

The Swampdogs started off the top of the 12th in stellar fashion as David Palenzuela (Miami Dade) lead off with a triple down the Right field baseline; Palenzuela would score two batters later when Kameron Stewart (Frostburg State) tripled to Center field.

The Blowfish started the game with a leadoff walk to JD Crowe (Francis Marion), Crowe would come around to score on an Allen Staton (North Greenville) grounded to second.

The Blowfish offense would then go down in order for the next 5 innings.

Meanwhile, the Swampdogs offense scored runs in the 5th and 6th inning to take the lead.

Eric Barber (Central Florida) lead off the bottom of the 8th with a double to center, Barber would advance to third on a Matt Williams (South Carolina) fly out to center, Barber came around to score the tying run on a wild pitch.

Blowfish starting pitcher Michael Carpin (Georgia) threw 5 innings, allowing 1 earned run on 4 hits, while striking out 4 on 84 pitches.

Swampdogs starting pitcher Alex Mateo (Nova Southeastern) threw 7 innings of 1 hit baseball, allowing 1 earned run in his first appearance of the season.

Michael Bozarth (St. Louis) lead the Swampdogs in offense as he went 4-5 at the plate.

The Columbia Blowfish next play Friday, July 18th against Asheboro. First Pitch is set for 7:05 P.M.
