
Owls Rally For Six Runs In The 8th To Defeat Gastonia

FOREST CITY- The Forest City Owls batted around and scored six runs in the top of the eighth inning to come back from a four run deficit on Saturday night in Gastonia.
Four Owls drove in a run a piece to tie the game at six before Derek Hannahs delivered a 2 RBI single to put the Owls in front 8-6 and Steven Pallares retired the Grizzlies in the 9th to get the 8-6 victory.
Hunter Bryant drove in the first run in the 8th scoring Steven Pallares, followed by a Devin Wenzel walk to load the bases with no outs.
Gastonia brought Cody Dysart in to the contest and was greeted by Joey Hawkins who ripped a single into right field bringing the Owls within two runs.
The Grizzlies brought in their third pitcher of the inning, who was the first pitcher to record an out.
Zach Cerbo and Matt Dezort then delivered RBI singles to tie the game before Hannahs delivered the game winning runs.
Orlando Razo got the start for Forest City tonight going six and a third innings. The left-hander allowed five runs on seven hits with five strikeouts.
The bullpen took care of the rest with Rob Thomas getting credit for the win and Steven Pallares the save, his second of the year.
Chris Robinson lifted a sac fly to center in the first inning to get the Grizzlies on the board and two run shot by Weston Lawing put them on top 3-0 after three.
The Owls answered the next half inning, as Hannahs and Pallares drove in a run a piece to pull within a run 3-2.
Gastonia would go on to score three more runs before the Owls huge 8th inning.
This win brings the Owls to the all-star break where Hunter Bryant, Joey Hawkins, Matthew Smith and Brock Goodling will be competing in the game on Monday night in Morehead City.
Bryant, the league leader in homeruns will also compete in the homerun derby on Sunday during all-star fan fest.
