San Angelo Colts News Release
San Angelo, Texas --- The Colts announced Wednesday they have traded outfielder Lyndon Poole to the McAllen Thunder in exchange for future considerations, and signed catcher Collin Janssen.
Poole signed with San Angelo on July 19 and played in three games. In that brief time, he went 1-for-9 (.111) with a pair of walks. Poole, 25, is in his sixth professional season. He has a .253 career average with five home runs and 47 RBIs.
"Lyndon has the opportunity to play every day in McAllen," Manager Doc Edwards said. "He is a great and eager outfielder, and it does not make sense to keep him on the bench when another team can start him."
In addition to trading Poole, the Colts also got a new catcher in Janssen to back up Michael Pair. Janssen played his college ball at Division III Concordia University in Austin.
Janssen hit .331 with five home runs and 36 RBIs in 47 games this spring. In 2011, he finished second on Concordia with a .377 average in 47 games. Janssen helped lead Concordia to back-to-back 30-plus win seasons, hitting .354 with seven homers and 65 RBIs in his two seasons there.
Janssen, 22, is a native of Bryan, Texas.
The Colts are a member of United League Baseball who are in their 13th season. Tickets are on sale now, and available at the Colts' front office at Foster Field.
