Harlingen, Texas - The McAllen Thunder (21-38) and the Rio Grande Valley White Wings (33-25) each put runners in scoring position on Wednesday, but the McAllen Thunder capitalized on more RBI opportunities, pulling out a 4-2 win at Harlingen Field.
The McAllen Thunder held off the Rio Grande Valley White Wings, as the Rio Grande Valley White Wings were unable to overcome a four-run seventh inning deficit.
The Rio Grande Valley White Wings scored two runs in the seventh on two singles. Still, the Rio Grande Valley White Wings could not catch the McAllen Thunder.
Brian Murphy got the win, running his season record to 4-4. He allowed two runs over seven innings. Murphy struck out none, walked two and gave up nine hits.
Yasser Gomez went 2-for-5 while driving in a run for the Thunder, and Lyndon Poole in his Thunder debut contributed with two hits in four plate appearances.
Chad Robinson got his ninth save of the season by allowing two hits and striking out one in the process.
The Thunder and White Wings will conclude their four game series on Thursday night at Harlingen Field with the first pitch at 7:05 p.m.
