San Angelo Colts News Release
SAN ANGELO, Texas---The San Angelo Colts have traded first baseman, Brian Nichols, to the Rio Grande Valley White Wings for catcher, Danny Etkin.
Rio Grande Valley was looking for a big bat to boost it's lineup while San Angelo was shopping for a catcher to solidify the teams' defense.
Nichols was batting .333 with seven RBI in eight games before he experienced a groin injury. That incident led him to sit out the most recent homestand for the Colts. The emergence of Jason Landreth and Nick Mahin, as hitters, enabled Colts manager, Doc Edwards, to improve in other areas.
For Rio Grande Valley, Etkin was batting .244; however, the Colts needed an everyday catcher and it appears as if they have found one.
