Colts Starter Receives Player of Week Honors

San Angelo, Texas---The North American League, one of the premier independent professional baseball leagues on the continent, announced today that San Angelo Colts right-handed pitcher Brian Henschel has been named the Rawlings Players of the Week for the week of July 17th.

The Colts right-hander made two starts last week, pitching 7 innings in each. In his first start of the week, Henschel surrendered just 2 runs on 6 hits. The righty improved in his second start of the week, giving up just 1 run on 7 hits as he recorded 7 strikeouts. His final line for the week was 14.0 innings pitched 3 earned runs, 13 hits, 3 walks, and 10 strikeouts. His ERA for the week was just 1.93. 2011 is Brian's fifth year playing professional baseball. The 34 year old has spent all five of his professional seasons with San Angelo after pitching for the University of Wisconsin. Henschel is the Colts' all-time wins (40), innings pitched (490.1) and strikeout leader (325). He also holds the single season record for ERA (2.19) and has the fifth best ERA all-time (4.39) for San Angelo. This season, the righty is 5-5 with a 4.88 ERA, and just 11 walks in 72 innings pitched.
