
Colts Sign Rookie Pitcher

San Angelo, Texas --- The Colts announced Friday they have signed pitcher Russell Johns. The righthander is a rookie who recently finished his collegiate career at Division III Concordia University in Austin.
Johns went 3-0 with a 2.03 earned-run average and two saves in 13 relief appearances this spring, helping lead Concordia to a 37-11 record. He also struck out 13 batters and walked two.
In three years at Concordia, Johns compiled a 6-2 record with a 5.86 earned-run average in 26 games and a start. Johns, 23, is a native of Troy, Texas.
In order to make room for Johns on the active roster, the Colts have also put Chad Nading on the Inactive List. Nading is 0-2 with a 19.29 earned-run average in four games and three starts.
The Colts continue their series against the Abilene Prairie Dogs tonight at Foster Field. It will be Six-Pack Cooler Giveaway Night, sponsored by Pepsi. The first 1,000 fans at the ballpark will receive a free six-pack cooler, courtesy of Pepsi. Gates open at 6:05 p.m., and first pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.
The Colts are a member of United League Baseball who are in their 13th season. Tickets are on sale now, and available at the Colts' front office at Foster Field.
