San Angelo Colts News Release
San Angelo, Texas --- Colts' starter Logan Williamson struck out a season-high seven batters, and guided San Angelo to a 6-5 win against the Abilene Prairie Dogs Friday night at Foster Field.
Williamson (4-1) gave up four runs on eight hits in seven innings of work. He yielded just two walks. Abilene starter Brian Smith lasted just 4 2/3 innings, allowing six runs, three earned, on five hits. Smith (3-2) suffered his second loss against the Colts this year.
Abilene took a 3-0 in the first, as centerfielder Jason Martin, right fielder Adam De La Garza and third baseman Wilson Batista scored on an error and a two-run double by left fielder Joe Weik.
The Colts cut their deficit to 3-1 in the bottom of the inning and then stormed back with four more runs in the third. Consecutive base hits by San Angelo, an Abilene error and two walks allowed the Colts to take a 4-3 lead. The Colts never trailed after their big third inning.
Down 6-4, the Prairie Dogs notched a run in the eighth on three wild pitches. However, Colts' closer Erik Draxton slammed the door on Abilene in the ninth. Draxton pitched a 1-2-3 inning to earn his seventh save.
Both clubs are now tied for fifth place in the United League at 13-15. The series continues Saturday night at Foster Field. It will be the Jersey Auction Night, sponsored by Angelo Pellets. Fans have the opportunity to bid on their favorite players' game worn jerseys. Gates open at 6:05 p.m., and first pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.
The Colts are a member of United League Baseball who are in their 13th season. Tickets are on sale now, and available at the Colts' front office at Foster Field.
