San Angelo Colts News Release

Edinburg, Texas---On Wednesday San Angelo made two moves in continuing efforts to improve the club down the stretch. They traded for outfielder Beau Riportella and signed southpaw Ryan Riddle. The Colts also made moves with Travis Calloway and Alex Casillas to make room on the roster.

New Colts outfielder Beau Riportella was acquired in a trade from the Yuma Scorpions, currently managed by Jose Canseco. While with Yuma, Beau hit .365 with no homeruns and 16 RBIs in 35 games. Riportella was originally a 10th round pick of the Cardinals in 2007 at age 18 and spent 2007-09 in the St. Louis chain.

Southpaw pitcher Ryan Riddle also was part of the Cardinals organization after being signed as a non-drafted free agent in 2007. Ryan has many ties to Texas, playing his college ball for two Texas schools in North Central Texas College (2003) and the University of Texas-Arlington (2006). He also played in the American Association from 2008-2010 for the Forth Worth Cats for the first two seasons and Grand Prairie last season. Riddle is from Bedford, Texas and went to Euless Trinity high school there. Ryan began the year with the Chico Outlaws and was 1-2 with 3 saves and a 7.13 ERA in 18 appearances.

To make room for Riportella and Riddle the Colts have released catcher Travis Calloway and have place right-hander Alex Casillas on the inactive list. Casillas was placed on the inactive list with a sore shoulder.
