
Colts Salvage Split

SAN ANGELO, Texas - The San Angelo Colts (22-18) salvaged a two game split versus Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings (19-21) as the Colts defeated the WhiteWings 5-1 in game two of the twill bill.
Starting pitcher Derek Christensen (4-1) got the win going the distance pitching seven strong innings scattering just six hits on one run and fanning seven.
In the top of the second inning, Thomas Shull and Michael Garcia led off the inning with back to back singles this opened the door for Andrew Deeds who scored Shull on a RBI single advancing Garcia to third giving the Wings an early 1-0 lead.
In the bottom of the fourth inning lead off man Steve Rinaudo blasted a solo homerun tying the game at 1-1. The solo homerun was the first hit and run allowed from Drew Coffey(1-1) who was charged with the loss.
The Colts opened up the flood gates in the bottom of the fifth inning scoring four runs in the frame extending their lead 5-1. Braden Embry led off the inning with a triple then scored on a Matt Wright RBI single.
The WhiteWings dropped the double header as the Wings get set for an eight game home stand starting July 4th versus the Texas Thunder at Harlingen field.
