Colts Avoid Late Rally; Take Game One of Twin Bill

SAN ANGELO, Texas - The San Angelo Colts (21-18) took game one of the double header 6-4 over the Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings (19-20) as the Wings rally fell short in the top of the seventh inning Tuesday night at Foster Field

Demetrius Banks improves to (4-0) on the year through six innings of work, surrendering just five hits on just two runs.

In the bottom of the second inning the Colts scored three runs in game one of the twin bill. The Colts were led by Matt Wright who made his Colts debut going 2-for-3 scoring Dan Evatt and Bubby Williams giving the Colts an early 2-0 lead.

Wright would later score on a Danny Hernandez RBI double making it 3-0 Colts.

A.J Smouse (4-2) was charged with the loss going five and one third innings of work while allowing six runs on 12 hits, Smouse's night was over in the bottom of the sixth inning as the Colts scored three more runs extending their lead to 6-0.

The sixth inning was led by Hernandez who scored Wright on an RBI double, the inning continued with runs scored by Hernandez and Rinaudo.

The Wings rallied in the top of the seventh inning loading the bases twice, as Thomas Shull and Michael Garcia scored on an Andrew Deeds two run RBI single cutting the lead to 6-2.

Kieran Bradford would score from third on a fielder's choice trimming the lead 6-3 as Carpen beat out the throw at first.

With runners on first and third, Roberto Ramirez singled and scored Deeds from third making it 4-3 Wings, the Colts turned a double play off the bat of Goose Kallunki ending the seventh inning rally.

Game two of the double header is set for thirty minutes after game one. The Wings send Drew Coffey to face off against Derek Christensen.
