San Angelo Colts News Release
SAN ANGELO, Texas - Following the conclusion of their three game-series over the weekend in Amarillo, the San Angelo Colts and Amarillo Dillas combined for a blockbuster trade. The Colts sent left-handed pitcher Brantley Jordan to the Dillas for outfielder Brett Donahoo.
In 74 games with Amarillo, Donahoo hit .283 with seven home runs, 54 RBIs and led the Dillas with 49 walks. The right-handed hitter also posted 21 doubles with six triples, second in the league, and 13 stolen bases in 15 attempts.
The 24-year-old is finishing his best month of the season, hitting .333 with 25 RBIs in 26 games in July. Donahoo, from West Point, Mississippi, played primarily in right field with Amarillo but made his Colts debut on Monday night in center field.
Donahoo, 5-foot-10 and 200 pounds, is in his third year as a professional following his college career at Delta State. He played with Jackson (Central League) in 2005 and hit .289 with the Dillas in 2006. Last year, in 68 games, Donahoo blasted six homers with 25 doubles and 48 RBIs.
Jordan, a left-handed starter, was 1-8 with a 4.31 ERA in 13 starts with San Angelo this season, his second with the Colts. In 79 1/3 innings pitched, he allowed 46 runs, 38 earned, on 95 hits with only 21 walks and 85 strikeouts.
Last year, serving as the Colts' closer, Jordan was second in the league in saves (15) and second in appearances (35). The Austin native was 6-4 with a 3.92 ERA and recorded 35 strikeouts in 39 innings pitched last season.
The Cardinals selected Jordan in the 29th round of the 2003 draft and the lefty played in the Cards' system for two seasons. After spending a short time on the independent scene, he worked his way into the Boston Red Sox organization, ascending to the Double-A level with Portland of the Eastern League in 2005.
The Colts continue this seven-game homestand with game two of this four-game series against Alexandria at 7:05 p.m. on Tuesday, July 31; it will be a "Two-for-Tuesday" at Foster Field, as fans can enjoy two hot dogs for the price of one all night.
