San Angelo Colts News Release

San Angelo, TX --- July 9, 2004 --- The San Angelo Colts announced today that Toby Rumfield, Field Manager, resigned as the manager and signed a Colts player contract. "We needed some additional hitting to make a run for the playoffs, and Toby has the credentials to help the Colts more as a player" said Harlan Bruha, Colts General Manager.

To make room for Rumfield as a player, the Colts placed Ricky Magdaleno on waivers in order to sign him as a Coach. Eric Moore, current Pitching Coach, will take over the duties of Manager for the remainder of the 2004 season.

Rumfield was a number 2 draft choice of the Cincinnati Reds in 1991 and has 13 years of experience with five years at the AAA level. Last year, he was on the championship Fargo-Moorhead team of the Northern League hitting .332 with 8 homeruns and 62 RBIs. For his 13-year baseball career he has hit 138 homeruns and drove in 718 runs.

Rumfield will be in the Colts lineup tonight against Jackson.
