The Amarillo Dillas defeated the Shreveport Sports 7-1 at Fair Grounds Field Friday night to take the first game of the three game series.
Amarillo took a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning, scoring on back to back doubles by Asdrubal Oropesa and Dallas McMann. The Dillas added two runs in the fifth and sixth innings and single runs in the seventh and eighth innings to push their second half record to 7-5.
Lefthander Jason Stockstill went the distance for the third time this season, limiting the Sports to five hits, evening his record at 6-6. Derek Patterson had two hits, the only Shreveport player to have multiple hits in the loss as the Sports dropped to 5-7 in the second half.
Shreveport and Amarillo will meet in the second game of the three game series Saturday at Fair Grounds Field. Game time will be 7:05 pm.
