August 29, 2011 - North American League (NAmL)
San Angelo Colts News Release

Edinburg, Texas--- The San Angelo Colts (52-36) finish off the regular season with the North American League South Division title, despite a 3-1 loss to Edinburg to cap off a four game road trip. The 52 wins this season, marks the third most in Colts history.

The Roadrunners scored in the first with an R.J. Harris sac fly and two more in the second with a two-out, two-run single by Antonio De Jesus, to take a 3-0 lead. The Colts had their chances in the eighth, loading the bases with no outs, but only managed to score one run on a 6-4-3 twin killing. Landon Camp had two hits, half the Colts total for the night.

Alfredo Caballero (0-3, 8.53) got the nod on the hill for the Colts, going six innings and after a rough start in which he allowed three early runs in his first two innings of work, settled down to throw four scoreless innings. The Colts right-hander threw well overall and is now ready to join the Colts bullpen for their first playoff game since 2009. He was out done however by Edinburg's Jose Pablo Oyervidez (3-1, 2.73), who went eight innings, allowing just one earned run, on four hits. The lone Colts run in the eighth, snapped a 16 inning scoreless drought, as San Angelo looks to get their bats going again for a deep playoff run. Corey Goudeau threw a scoreless seventh inning and a trio of Colts hurlers in Kyle Boggio, Josh Giles and John Huizinga threw a three-up, three-down, scoreless eighth.

San Angelo now turns their sights on the second place Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings (51-37) as they begin a best of seven series with games one and two at Harlingen Field. The game one matchup features Colts righty Chandler Barnard (12-2, 3.25) against fellow right-hander Alexander Concepcion (8-4, 4.76), the first pitch is at 7:05 P.M, you can listen to all the action on 101.9 "The Fire". The Colts will come home for games three and four on Thursday and Friday, (as well as games five through seven if necessary). Thursday is "Thirsty Thursday" sponsored by Miller Lite.
