San Angelo Colts News Release
Edinburg, Texas --- Edinburg Roadrunners' shortstop Felix Molina hit a walk-off RBI single in the 11th inning to give his team a 2-1 victory over the Colts Tuesday night at Edinburg Stadium.
The base hit by Molina scored second baseman Wilmer Pino from third. Pino led the inning off with a single, advanced to second when third baseman Carlos Hereaud was hit by a pitch, and then moved over to third on a sacrifice bunt by designated hitter Derek Perren.
Colts' reliever David Phillips (1-2) surrendered the winning run, and therefore took the loss. Starter Brian Henschel held the Roadrunners to just one run on seven hits in eight innings of work for a hard fought no decision.
The lone run Henschel gave up was on a leadoff homer by catcher Osiel Flores in the third inning.
San Angelo tied the game in the sixth on an RBI double by shortstop Danny Hernandez. Left fielder Jamar Walton singled, and then scored all the way from first base on Hernandez's double.
Edinburg starter Matison Smith lasted seven innings and struck out a game-high six batters for the no decision. Reliever Tetsuya Iwasaki (3-0) earned the win by virtue of pitching a scoreless top of the 11th.
The win improves the Roadrunners to a league-best 47-30, while the loss drops the Colts to 38-39. This series continues Wednesday night at Edinburg Stadium. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m., and the game can be heard live on KKSA beginning at 6:50 p.m.
San Angelo returns home on August 18 to play the Abilene Prairie Dogs. It will be the Vegas Fan Fly Away, sponsored by Midland International Airport. One fan will win two tickets to Las Vegas, courtesy of Midland International Airport. Gates open at 6:05 p.m., and first pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.
The Colts are a member of United League Baseball who are in their 13th season. Tickets are on sale now, and available at the Colts' front office at Foster Field.
