Harlingen, Texas - the Rio Grande Valley White Wings (45-32) scored five runs in the first four innings and did not look back as they defeated the McAllen Thunder (28-50) by a score of 5-1 on Wednesday night at Harlingen Field.
Celson Polanco (10-4) pitched a complete game allowing a run and struck out 11 batters to pace the White Wings.
Mario Mercedes racked up two RBIs on one hit for the White Wings as he homered in the fourth inning.
Alex Smith (3-3) took the loss for the Thunder as he lasted just seven innings, walked two, struck out two, and allowed five runs.
Miguel Alfonzo had the lone RBI for the Thunder and Fidel Hernandez contributed with two singles.
The Thunder will play the third of their four game series against the White Wings on Thursday night at Harlingen Field with the first pitch at 7:05 p.m.
