San Angelo Colts News Release

Edinburg, Texas --- The Edinburg Roadrunners took an early lead and then held on to defeat the Colts, 6-4, Wednesday night at Edinburg Stadium. San Angelo is now 0-6 in Edinburg this year.

The Roadrunners led 3-0 entering the fifth inning, lost the lead and then regained it heading into the sixth. San Angelo tied the game at three in the top of the fifth, courtesy of a passed ball, an RBI ground out by designated hitter Cory Patton and a run-scoring single by third baseman Landon Camp.

Centerfielder J.J. Sherrill, second baseman Mark Ramos and first baseman Daryl Jones all scored in that inning.

The Roadrunners responded immediately. Second baseman Wilmer Pino scored the go-ahead run on an RBI ground out by designated hitter Derek Perren. Right fielder Tim Battle then crushed a two-run homer, his fifth of the year, which brought home shortstop Felix Molina.

Down 6-3, the Colts scored a run in the sixth. However, they failed to score again.

Colts' starter Mike Hart (5-3) took the loss, allowing six runs on eight hits in six innings. Edinburg starter Dave Dinelli (5-8) surrendered four runs, one earned, on 10 hits in seven innings for the win. Roadrunners' closer Julio Castro pitched a perfect ninth for his 13th save.

The win improves the Roadrunners to a league-best 48-30, while the loss drops the Colts to 38-40. This series continues Thursday night at Edinburg Stadium. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m., and the game can be heard live on KKSA beginning at 6:50 p.m.
