San Angelo Colts News Release

San Angelo, Texas --- The Abilene Prairie Dogs scored four runs in the top of the 11th to defeat the Colts, 7-3, Monday night at Foster Field.

Catcher Chris Caves, centerfielder Jason Martin, shortstop Danny Gonzalez and right fielder Wilson Batista all scored in Abilene's big, final inning. Colts reliever Michael Hacker (2-4) took the loss, giving up all four runs in the 11th.

Abilene took an early 2-0 lead, but the Colts came back and tied the game at three in the eighth. Left fielder Jamar Walton scored San Angelo's first run in the seventh, and then hit a game-tying, two-RBI double in the eighth.

Walton's double scored second baseman Jason Diaz, as well as first baseman Daryl Jones. Diaz and Jones both drew walks to begin the inning. Walton finished the game 4-for-5, but it was not enough to beat Abilene.

Prairie Dogs' right fielder Wilson Batista went 3-for-6 with a solo home run, two RBIs and three runs scored. The homer was his ninth of the year. On the mound, Abilene reliever Kevin Gelinas (2-1) pitched a perfect 10th inning to earn the win.

The win improves Abilene to 24-38, while the loss drops San Angelo to 32-32. The Colts are off Tuesday, but they begin a two-game series against the Fort Worth Cats Wednesday night at Foster Field.

It will be another Sherwin Wednesday, sponsored by Sherwin Williams. Either the Colts win, or every fan receives a free ticket to the next Wednesday home game. Gates open at 6:05 p.m., and first pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.

The Colts are a member of United League Baseball who are in their 13th season. Tickets are on sale now, and available at the Colts' front office at Foster Field.
