Cats Fail to Sweep WhiteWings, Lose in Extras

July 30, 2012 - North American League (NAmL)
Fort Worth Cats News Release

HARLINGEN-- A walk-off two-run blast from Salvador Paniagua brought home the winning run for the Rio Grande Valley Whitewings in a 5-3 victory over the Fort Worth Cats 11 innings at Harlingen Field on Monday.

Paniagua racked up three RBIs on two hits for the Rio Grande Valley Whitewings.

Cats' catcher Scott Dalrymple tied the game at two in the second inning with a two-run blast. Dalrymple had a great series, going seven-for-thirteen and raising his batting average from .132 to .183.

Nick Lenzendorf improved to 3-1 on the year by picking up the win for the Rio Grande Valley Whitewings. He struck out three, walked two and surrendered one hit.

Despite the no-decision, Fort Worth starter Steven Barnes had a quality start as he went seven full innings while only giving up three earned runs on six hits.

Brandon Wilkerson (5-1) took the loss for the Fort Worth Cats. After TJ Bozeman sent the game to extra innings following two hitless innings, Wilkerson had a perfect tenth inning. However, an error by Brandon Jones allowed the leadoff batter for Rio Grande Valley to get on base before Salvador Paniagua provided extra inning heroics for the win.
