Colts Explode Late, Hammer Dillas

SAN ANGELO, TX - The Amarillo Dillas had their chances to come back from a slim early deficit, but the San Angelo Colts teed off for nine runs in the last two innings to defeat the Dillas 13-1 on Friday night in front of 2,072 fans at Foster Field.

Dillas starter Taylor Allen (9-6) went six innings, gave up four runs off only six hits while striking out three. Colts starter Caleb Rodgers (1-1) went seven innings, gave up only six hits and one run while striking out five.

The Colts scored twice in the second inning as Jason Crosland scored on a Josh Hollingsworth single while Andres Rodriguez scored on a wild pitch to take a two-run lead. Amarillo would cut the lead in half in the third as Ryan Crespi scored on a Danny Bravo to bring the score within 2-1.

San Angelo scored twice in the fifth to move up by three and would add on five more in the seventh on three hits and three errors to take a 9-1 lead.

Former Dilla Brett Donahoo hit his ninth homer of the season to left field, Rodriguez hit his 11th and Wyn Diggs doubled home another to put the Colts up by a dozen. San Angelo reliever Taylor Fleming finished off the last two innings to maintain the lead and give the Colts a 13-1 victory.

With the loss, the Dillas improve to 17-14 on the second-half of the season and 43-38 overall. Saturday, the Dillas will take on the Colts for the second game of a three-game series at 7:05 pm with Dillas Pre-Game set to begin at 6:50 pm on 1010 AM The Canyon and online via AudioSportsOnline.com. Game time is tentative and is subject to blackout.
